Sweet Potato – Underground Artist
What colours do I pick?
The canvas is grey
The clouds in disarray
Nothing matches the pink
That I am…that I want
What shades of black
Can I paint this darkness
No innocence harkens
When thunder strikes
No kindness endures
When greed consumes
This soil…dry senses
I dip my brush into ashes
I look to the sky for answers
It’s hard to see the blue, the yellow
When life as you know it
Is a bitter pill to swallow
Allow me
To paint this green
The lush hues of life
In this ground…
So hollow
My walls are dark
But I finally see the light
My palette is the spark
With the power to ignite
Awaken the sleeping beetles
Gather thus, my mottled crew
Arise and build this world anew
