Cabbage Royal’s Loss

The reigning cabbage

Her majesty has lost
Her woven crown
Of roots and dust
Nutrients from her lawn
Interwoven into the crust

Have you seen it?
She’s on a quest to seek it
Gown unfurled she decides to walk it
Infuriating miles, past every plant,
scorched without a bonnet

Without it there’s no throne
Every brassica knows
No pomp, she’s overthrown
Her anxiety grows
For the ones next in line thrive in her sorrows
She feels truly alone
Among millions more in rows
