Poetic Tribute to a Guru’s Undying Love
Title : The sweetest fragrance in the Garden of Rupanuga Bhakti !
O ! My Beloved Gurudev !
Each moment in the separation of a pure devotee seems like thousands of years !
As, we comemorate Thy holy disappearance with Thy lotus feet in our hearts so near !
Ponds, rivers, gardens of Vrindavana on the canvas of our heart’s woods,
Have all lost their beauty and with streams of tears look !
Flowers bloom not neither birds sing nor peacocks in our hearts dance,
For, Thou art the sweetest fragrance in the Garden of Rupanuga bhakti we have lost !
In the words of Bhaktivinod Thakur–
”He reasons ill who tells, Vaishnavas die when Thou art living in sound !
The Vaishnavas die to live, and in living try to spread the Holy Name around! ”
But! How could my words suffice for reverance of a homage due to be paid?
But to obey Thy instructions for my devotion to blossom that you have
ordained !
As , Thou art ever the exalted servant of Radharani showering Lilas of nectar sweet in every way,
Needless it is to grief in mundane ways for our faith to sway !
Mercy’ s abode our Gurudev is softer than a flower and so kind,
Yet, stronger than the thunder where principles are at stake while being benign.
Even his foes he does not chide ,
But embrace them to forgive with love like a father towards His child !
Today, Thy throne in which Thy mercy resided to radiate its rays,
Thy Vyashasan is ever our reservoir of Radhaprem’s abode of the sweetest array !
Thy echanting bluish eyes are the glances of syamsundar from the Lake of Mansarovar to give ,
For the highest love of pure Bhakti we poor ducklings yearn from the Divine Swans to live !
Leaving Thou, how shall I seek the shelter of pure Bhakti radiating in Thy heart?
For deeper is Thy love to shower us with Krishnaprem than what holds in our duplicious hearts!
The fragrance of Divine Love in the line of Rupanuga Manjari is the sweetest gift of Thy heart replete,
For it shall shine ever in our memories with the light to keep our souls to seek!
Jai Gurudev.
