Adding Colour To A Drab World

Brilliant reds attract the eyes like no other colour.
While red is regarded an auspicious colour by the Chinese community, Indians also attach great importance to the colour.
The colour adorns a married woman’s forehead in the form of kumkum and it is associated with the Mother Goddess Durga or Mahakali.
Being the colour of blood its significance is undoubtedly a permanent fixture in everyone’s imagination.
The tree in the photograph above is the Erythrina fusca, a dwarf tree at the entrance road to Phase 3B Bandar Tasik Kesuma in Beranang, Selangor.
