JANA NAYAGAN – Vijay’s Fan Power
Actor Thalapathi Vijay’s last dance, Jana Nayagan did not disappoint the fans one bit but in fact gave them a truly heartful memory to carry, of their hero’s movie magic doled out consistently for their entertainment over the past few decades.
Despite all the flaws of a weak plot and illogical twists and turns,Vijay gave his very best with his stylish acting coupled with sentimental outpourings and lots of limb-swinging fight scenes, energetic dancing and overall fans-pleasing entertainment.
Come to think of it, his fight scenes laced with witty humour reminds one of old Spidey who is also currently swinging about at adjacent big screens globally.
Director H. Vinoth’s adaptation of the Nanthamuri Balakrishnan Telugu starrer, Bhagavantha Kesari script to create Jana Nayagan as Vijay’s Tamil Nadu State Election campaign vehicle and swan song, is so full of loopholes including poor casting, unnecessary violence and laggy storyline with total lack of originality, will however go down in the Tamil movie history as one of the superstar’s worst movies.
The only factor keeping the movie afloat was Vijay’s signature moves and young blood Mamitha Baiju’s convincing adopted daughter characterisation.
Even the Bobby Deol-Prakash Raj dual villain combination was merely laughable and a clearly unsubstantial farce.
But whatever the dire quality of the movie its looming presence (despite a legal blockade preventing it’s pre-election publiç screening) was a boost for Vijay’s loyal fans who counted as his voter base and who eventually garnered for Thalapathi’s TVK party, the highest number of seats to oust Tamil Nadu’s ruling DMK party and main opposition party AIDMK.
It is safe to say that Vijay who is apparently seen delivering his election promises as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister in emulating his `people’s saviour’ cinema image especially as portrayed by his overaggressive social media campaign team, has the capability to return to his acting career should his fling in Tamil Nadu’s explosive political arena, fail to work out.
